Project Brief:

PUBLISHED:
Apr 2025

For this project I worked alongside my team at Wide Angle Youth Media to build a completed brand system, editorial cover and layout, in addition to other branded campaign materials for print and social media.

This project was made in collaboration with photography by Devin Allen, who worked alongside Baltimore Beat to curate an exhibition at the BMA commemorating the memory of Freddie Gray and the Uprising.

Brand System

The logo is type set in VTC Martin to be consistent with Baltimore Beat's current brand system which also pays homage to the 1960s civil rights movement. Additionally the typography used within this campaign is heavily inspired by that of classic Baltimore letterpress which still resonates throughout the city today.

The primary use case for this campaign branding was for Baltimore Beat's 59th issue newspaper. This edition highlighted the 10th Anniversary of Freddie Gray's death and it's impact on the people of Baltimore City as well as Nationwide.

Posters & Flyers

In addition to the cover and editorial designs for Baltimore Beats 59th issue, there were also many other city wide events taking place throughout the city within the Uprising campaign. For this we created additional posters, billboards and flyers for print.

Social Media & Other

Additonal materials including social media posts and story posts were designed, as well as concepts for event wrist bands and stickers.
